Darcy Falk

Darcy Falk’s stitched textile collages are a visual feast of exuberance and passion. A riot of color, fabric, stitchery and magic, her gallery-quality art quilts treat the subjects of domesticity, divinity and rite of passage with wit, style and craftsmanship.

Recycled, discarded, collected and hand-dyed fabrics are stitched and bound with a dangerously driven sewing machine — imagine careening down curvy mountain roads at breakneck speed — resulting in what can no longer be called “quilt.”

Bags of fabric scraps are left on her doorstep like foundlings. Falk paws through them to find buried treasure, historical relics from our polyester past.

In this world, color is the real currency.
